Montefalco Sagrantino D.O.C.G.
The denomination of origin Montefalco Sagrantino d.o.c.g. is reserved for wines produced with grapes of the Sagrantino grape variety, grown in an area that includes land in the municipality of Montefalco and part of the territory of the municipalities of Bevagna, Gualdo Cattaneo,
Castel Ritaldi and Giano dell’Umbria located in the province of Perugia. It is a very small area with land that slopes gently along the hilly profiles with altitudes of 220 m. s.l.m. to the 472 of the highest hill reliefs, manned by ancient medieval villages.

CLIMATE: Harsh winters with fresh springs and hot, humid summers
HARVEST: Manual at perfect ripening
WINEMAKING PROCESS: Grape transfer by fall. Maceration period: 15 days at the controlled steady temperature of 25° C with repeated daily fullings mainly at the beginning
MATURATION: 20 months in French oak barrels followed by aging in bottle for at least 6 months.
ALCOHOL CONTENT: 15% vol.
TASTING: Colour: Deep red
Scent: Fruity, notes of licorice, balsamic
Taste: Lingering fruity, enveloping, velvety tannin, impressive structure
